gum-health-300x200There are many excuses people make for why they don’t pay more attention to their oral care. One of the most common is simply being too busy.

Modern life seems to be incredibly busy and even though there are incredible technological innovations that help us accomplish more in a shorter amount of time, it still seems that we get far too busy to take care of ourselves in a healthy way.

Below are a number of oral care tips that can help even the busiest person maintain healthy looking teeth and gums.

Tip #1: Understand time management.

Watching a half-hour television program (or even a one hour program) once a day may seem to be an enjoyable experience, but it’s simply stealing away supposedly valuable time from your life.

Put things into perspective and you’ll find the appropriate amount of time to take care of your teeth properly.

Tip #2: Brush in between commercial breaks.

When you’re watching a television program, the moment the commercials start up again, get up and rush to your bathroom and begin brushing your teeth. You should brush your teeth for two full minutes, then floss, then rinse with mouthwash for one full minute. That is approximately 4 to 5 minutes of effort twice a day. That’s not a lot of time.

The average commercial break from a television program lasts approximately four minutes.

Tip #3: Go on Facebook one time less during the day.

Even if you don’t have a Facebook account or check it very often, the point here is to highlight how much time actually gets wasted throughout the day on things that are not very important. It may seem important, but oral care can affect not only your personal life, it can also affect your health.

Recent research indicates that some bacteria that are in the mouth can get into the bloodstream through infected gums, reaching the heart, and causing some types of heart disease. By following this these tips, even the busiest individual will be able to focus more on positive oral care.
