time-for-dentist-300x199Let’s be honest. Visiting the dentist is usually last on your list of things to do. Yet there are times when it’s necessary.

While there are several signs that could indicate you should make an appointment with your dentist today, three stand out as the most immediate:

1. Sensitivity or pain.
2. Hiding your smile.
3. It’s been at least six months since you last visited a dentist.

Sensitivity or Pain.

Sensitive teeth or tooth pain is usually a sign that there is something wrong with them. It could be that the enamel has worn off or that you have a cavity that is exposing the nerve in your tooth.

You may just have sensitive teeth that could be resolved with basic care. No matter whether you require a root canal (the one thing that people seem to hold as the least appealing aspect of dental care) or a general cleaning, when you don’t take proper care of your teeth, it could lead to sensitivity and/or pain.

Don’t ignore tooth pain. Call your dentist immediately.

You Hide Your Smile.

Do you cover your mouth when you laugh? Do you feel self-conscious about your smile and don’t want people to notice it? Or you?

There’s a reason for that. You need to spend a little more time taking care of the issues that cause you to hide your smile. It could be crooked teeth, chipped teeth, yellowing teeth, or a number of other issues. When you don’t feel confident about your smile, you tend to hide it.

Yet when you smile more often, you feel better about yourself and that builds even more confidence.

It’s been at least six months since your last dental visit.

It doesn’t matter where you live, if it’s been at least six months since your last dental visit, then it’s time to go back. When you take care of your teeth and have them cleaned and checked regularly, you’ll have a great smile people love and want to be around.

When you know it’s time to visit the dentist again, don’t wait. Make an appointment today. Your teeth are too important to ignore.
